Bullying reference announced

The Attorney-General has asked the Commission to review the adequacy of Victoria’s criminal laws in dealing with serious bullying. In the terms of reference, the Attorney-General asked the Commission to recommend reforms to respond to ‘serious bullying behaviour, which includes menacing, harassing or intimidating conduct that causes physical or mental harm to a victim’.

‘This reference is proposed to ensure that perpetrators of serious bullying receive appropriate sanction under Victoria’s criminal law.’

The Commission must deliver its final report to government by December 2011.
