In December 2016 the Attorney-General asked the Commission to review the provision of state-funded financial assistance to victims of family violence under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 1996.
The Commission has been asked to review and report on:
- the eligibility test and whether it should be expanded;
- whether the amount of compensation awarded reflects the cumulative impact of family violence;
- the requirement to notify perpetrators; and
- the matters giving rise to refusal of application.
