Failure to Appear in Response to Bail: Draft Recommendation Paper

The Failure to Appear in Response to Bail: Draft Recommendation Paper was released in January 2002 and received 11 submissions.

This paper was the result of a suggestion from the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service to review section 4(2)(c) of the Bail Act 1977, which deals with people who fail to appear in court after they have been released on bail. The paper discusses how Indigenous people and those from other marginalised communities are sometimes disadvantaged by the wording of this section.
