Family Violence
November 2002–May 2006
The Family Violence project arose because of concerns the intervention order system was not protecting the victims of family violence.
Family Violence commissioner Judith Peirce delivered a report in March 2006 that recommended the introduction of a dedicated family violence Act, police holding powers, safer court facilities and the provision of free legal advice and representation.
