Abortion reform bill enters parliament

A bill based on the Victorian Law Reform Commission's Final Report on the law of abortion in Victoria was introduced to parliament on 19 August 2008. The bill proposes that abortion be removed from the Crimes Act and treated like other medical procedures up to 24 weeks gestation. The commission's report was tabled in May after extensive consultation with organisations and individuals.
