Reforms to protect assistance animal users
On 29 January the Attorney-General, Rob Hulls, launched the commission's final report on assistance animals. The report makes recommendations aimed at giving greater legal protection to people with disabilities who rely on assistance animals. The recommendations include introducing a system to make training, accreditation and identification of assistance animals consistent. The report also recommends expanding the range of disabilities covered by the current law. The report can be accessed online or ordered by contacting the commission. Versions in accessible formats are also available.
