Have Your Say About the Law

29 June 2005

All Victorians have the right to have their say on changes to the law, which is why the Victorian Law Reform Commission has translated its essential information into 11 different languages.

People from the Vietnamese, Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Italian, Turkish, Spanish, Somali, Croatian and Macedonian communities can now access information in their first language about how to become involved in law reform.

The Changing the Law brochure contains information about the commission, how the law reform process operates and how people can have their say through the use of interpreters.

The commission is committed to involving all Victorians in the law reform process and is keen to hear from groups or individuals who have suggestions for improvements to state laws.

The commission is currently investigating the laws governing:

  • Family violence intervention orders
  • Workplace privacy
  • Bail
  • Access to reproductive technology and adoption
  • Evidence
  • Information kept on databases about people who rent

The translations of the brochure are available on the commission’s website under the Publications section at: www.lawreform.vic.gov.au.
